Why worry about AA or CLD?

Recently been reading a lot about adverse action: acct closures/cld/etc. with Barclays and Amex and what not.

Do I want a CLD or closure? Heck no. That's the last thing I would want.

But it's like having a girlfriend who is borderline personality/bipolar and keeps threatening to walk away because of trivial mistakes you make. You can't live your life constantly worrying that somebody is going to walk out of it. For me, if you're going to stay with me, you accept me with all of my flaws. You accept that one day I may charge a big purchase and other months I may just buy a soda. If that sets off your little borderline personality bank alarm, then so be it. Take my card. I'm better off without worrying about you all the time and you're better off not having to worry about a guy like me.

I say if you get an acct closed - good riddance and wish you lots of luck in future endeavors. You can't sit there worrying that you made a terrible mistake. 6 months from now you'll have another card, if you don't already have one. Your new card will not have you walking on eggshells.

Ive opened lots and lots of new accounts in the last 8 months and only best buy closed the 400cl account they approved me for. I dont worry about that. They know i opened a lot of accounts but they also see that im never late, never over the limit, utl has never been higher than 3%, and only one account reports monthly.

Re: Why worry about AA or CLD?

Sound perfectly reasonable to me.Since the crash of 08 when financial markets were in a tail spin, there have been new rules and standards put in place with all lenders. A tough guideline has now been made extremely conservative in nature.I would not want to bank with a company that makes me feel that they are doing me the favor of doing business. It should be a two way street where we both are investing in one another. If for example American Express,Chase or any other company has gotten to the point that I feel like being on pins and neddles then that is a relationship that would not work.Times change and companies do what they must to survive and thrive in new reality economies. I respect that and fully understand it.Just doesn't mean I'm willing to get caught up in the stress of those new guidelines. Too many other lenders out there to choose from.

Re: Why worry about AA or CLD?

I don't believe in living in constant fear either. I don't want any cards closed, but I am not going to try to remain perfect so it doesn't get shut down. However, some people on here aren't in a position to be able to have a card closed and move on. Some people need every card they can get to balance utilisation and to build history.

Re: Why worry about AA or CLD?

I was going to app for a Barclay backed card but having to worry about inq's and CLD seems like a bit much. If I had an account that was closed 'just because' I would be irritated at first but I don't like giving my business to someone who doesn't want me as a customer.

I am going to charge, pay and keep doing what I'm doing...if it happens - it happens.
