Hi. I need some advice. I was approved today for two cards I wanted - Discover IT CL $1500 and USAA World MC CL $8000. I was thinking of apping Cap1 Quicksilver One tonight because I understand Cap 1 will grow with you (and because they turned me down 6 weeks ago). My FICO score from my 6/10/2014 boat loan approval was 719. Will putting in this app possibly jeopardize my Discover or USAA approvals? Is that possible? My thinking is that I should get a few apps done ASAP so that the INQs are all grouped together in time and then head to the garden and pay my bills for a while.
I have no idea if putting in this app puts any of my approvals at risk, but I'm sure someone here does...

Just curious why the qs 1 and not the regular non af quicksilver ?
I'm not sure my AAoA qualifies me for the regular Quicksilver. My oldest credit cards are secured cards about 3 months old now. One car loan 15 months old and another refinanced two months ago. So according to Cap1's application standards I am average credit. Besides, the $39 annual fee won't kill me, I don't carry balances so the APR is meaningless, and I don't think I'll be considered average credit for too long so I understand Cap1 is good about letting you graduate to the premium card. I'm OK with that if it means the difference between getting approved or not.
Has anyone ever gotten an approval and had it yanked because they apped another card immediately afterwards?
no wouldn't worry at all about your current accounts.
Thanks CreditAddict. I'm totally OK with the DIscover and approval and thrilled with the USAA, but I'm thinking that the Cap1 would be a nice addition, and then not doing any apps for the next 6 months or so.. then trying to get a premium card or two after paying my new mortgage (boat loan?) and gardening the cards for a while. I know Cap1 has been known to give out some nice CLI's and there's no reason not to go ahead and get some history with them if I can get approved. And I don't see why I wouldn't. Besides, I want vindication after getting rejected back in April lol.
I never suggest applying for a capital one that you don't get pre-qualified for unless it's one of the co-branded cards... but don't go take 3 hp's and apply for a quicksilver 1 and maybe get a $500 limit! check the pre-qual and I would NOT take a quicksilver 1 if that is the only offer... your discover and USAA are WAY better then Quicksilver 1 and i rather apply for 3 other cards vs take a quicksilver 1 too!
What do you think I should apply for? I'm open to one more app and I'd like to make it a good one. Bear in mind that I know my EQ score is at 719, I suspect the others are also pretty solid. But I have a fair number of INQs as I just refi'ed my car, got a loan on a houseboat, the new USAA card, and the DIscover card. Plus a denial in April from Cap1 and in May a denial from Barclays before my score jumped over 700. And my credit history is short.. only a couple of months of secured cards and 2 car loans 15 months.
check all the pre-approvals and then lets see who you have offers with:
citicards.com
chase.com
bankofamerica.com
americanexpress
capitalone
if i was going to cold app I would pick Amex as number 1
BofA as 2
capital one as 3
I doubt any of the preapprovals will come back as I'm opted out. I like BofA.. I'm a shareholder. I have a sneaky feeling that Amex won't like my short credit history. My feeling was that Cap1 was a safe bet. What I don't want to do is waste a HP.

oh, that's why i don't like being opted out!
I bet Amex WILL like your short history and even if you squeak through with a $1-2k approval, you still have the possible 3x cli at just 61 days... WAY more than you will ever get out of cap1!
BofA is great for recon and fast and many CLI but will cost you hp's for the cli's
