Will using Walmart Pay Count Towards the 5% Chase Freedom Rotating Gas Category?

Very curius about this, Walmart offers a few cents off if you use the Walmart Pay app to pay for gas at their branded gas stations. The current quarter with Chase Freedom gives 5% off for gas. If you use your Chase Freedom to pay for gas at a Walmart gas station via the Walmart Pay app, does it still give you 5% back for gasoline?

Same question for Discover when their rotatting quarter categories is gas.

As long as it codes for gas then you should earn the points. 
for example; 

I used my Discover it(last quarter/gas) at a Murphy station and PIF through Walmart pay. Since it codes for gas, I earned the points. 
I used my mothers Chase Amazon last quarter through Walmart pay and since it codes for gas, I got the points. 
Smart POS usually works for earning points the same as using your card in the chip reader would.
