@notmyrealname23I don't think Diamond status in general is bad. My issue with Diamond status is that it's given by way of an annual fee which then creates far too many folks with status. It's not uncommon to hear from folks here and bloggers in this space that says that Hilton Diamond status as it relates to upgrades is practically useless in the U.S. I believe a lot of this has to do with so many folks having the status.
I would argue that if you have a status where the upgrade possibilities don't have instruments you can use to secure the upgrade before you show up at the front desk, it's at best a crap shoot. (Marriott has those, Hyatt has those, Hilton doesn't.)

Either way, I will say having pretty extensive experience currently Marriott is by far my favorite program because I tend to get the most value out of it based on a % return on spend, which is my main criteria.*
*I am also a very low maintenance guest. I don't care about them fawning over me because I'm Titanium or Spire or whatever, upgrading me to the Presidential suite, free drinks, or a wiz bang breakfast that I won't eat anyway. Get me in, give me a clean room, give me a comfortable bed, value me by giving me a higher return on spend. That's it for me.
That is mostly where I am at as well; my problem would be I don't get anywhere close to the 75-100 night level even in ONE chain (and I travel enough outside the US that American chains or even 2-3 chains in general won't work). So non-organic status (Hilton Diamond from a card, IHG Platinum from Ambassador, Hyatt Explorist and Wyndham Diamond from some tick-tock ongoing status matches using MLife/Caesars) is pretty attractive, but I don't expect a lot out of it other than maybe not being in the room with a view over the AC vents.
Mine is only mostly organic lol. Most of my stays are single night so it's pretty easy to get Hilton Diamond organically. I stay 30 nights every year, no more. I use an old employer's travel codes and IHG gives people who travel on that code a Spire challenge probably twice a year. I would be Platinum from stays anyway though. Marriott I have enough nights to be Platinum but the last couple of years I've gotten double elite night credit promos that were enough to get me to Titanium. I did the Wyndham Diamond (never stay there) to Caesar's Diamond (which I use a lot for free nights + Atlantis) to MGM Gold (which I don't use) to Hyatt Explorist. I almost never stay In Hyatt properties as paid stays. I transfer UR there for points redemptions.
