Woohoo!!!! AmEx CLI!!!

I got an 8k CLI on AmEx- from 2k to 10,000!  That just dropped my util. on that card from about 44% to 8%!  It also dropped my overall util. from 58% to 46%!  (Yeah, I have 3 cards that are higher util. than I'd like; I'm working on it...)

Now, if they'd just give me some decent balance transfer offers, so I can attack the other cards...

Yippee!!!

Congrats!!  How long have you had the card?  Any PIF's?  Did you do it online or over the phone?

Re: Woohoo!!!! AmEx CLI!!!

I've had it about 8 months, started with a 4.99% BT of $1500, and have been slowly whittling it down.  Haven't PIF yet- but then, I haven't actually purchased anything with the card, either- it's solely a BT card at the moment.

I did it over the phone- I actually had to call a few days ago, and request a new card so I could ask for the CLI, as they needed the security code for verification, and I seem to have so thoroughly sock-drawered the original card that I can't find it now!  It's either buried in my dresser somewhere, or the kitties dumped a stack of bills and then chased it under a piece of furniture...  Anyway, while I was on the phone activating the new card, I asked for the CLI, and it went through just fine!

Wow that's great!!  One last question, did you ask for 10k or did you just ask for an increase?

Re: Woohoo!!!! AmEx CLI!!!

I sure as heck wouldn't use it as anything *other* than a BT card right now, as the interest rate is 19.99% on purchases- double or more than what most of my other cards charge.  After a year, or when I'm done with BT's, I'll call and give them the "Golly, I wonder if you could help- I'd like to use this card, but my BOA card gives me a 7.99% fixed rate..."  If they say yes, it'll still be a PIF card.  If they say no, it'll get sock-drawered for a few months, and then another call...

I have about 20k in CC debt at the moment- if all goes well, I'm shooting for it all to be gone by next Feb.  Low-interest BT's just speed up the process!

Re: Woohoo!!!! AmEx CLI!!!

I asked for 10k, as I currently don't have any open cards with that high a limit, and I've heard that it generally looks better to have higher limits.  Plus, I felt bold today, and all they could do is say "No"!
