I have previously posted about my X1 approval and SL of $29,000 being increased to $40,000 after 2 weeks when I requested it through text support line. I started to put more and more of my daily spend on the card and also used a few of the boosts. The first 30 days are 4X points and I had some wedding expenses in Belize. As luck would have it the country of Belize is no longer accepting AMEX until their bank negotiates something new with AMEX (nobody in Belize can accept AMEX at this point) . . . this means my wedding expenses are going to all go on the X1 card. (Fortunately no foreign transaction fee) I am okay with this as the rewards points work on American Airlines, United, Southwest, and Alaska air . . . which are the 4 airlines that fly into Belize so we can use the points as we fly there several times a year. My account has the option to convert points at .7 cents per point but we will utilize the points to pay for airfare.
I had a couple of large expenses and I texted support first to let them know they were coming through. They were quick to respond that everything was okay and if any questionable charges came through the app would ask me for verification prior to processing the charges. None of the charges triggered a problem and all went through fine. Not sure if they had made any notes in my account but everything really went as smooth as I could hope for. I do pay balances as soon as they post which I think is helping to create a good realtionship with X1. I was nervous after reading reports that some people had issues with their accounts for heavy use in the first month, but X1 didn't bat an eye. They really have been amazing to work with considering I was making large charges in a foreign country during my first 30 days with them.
The best news . . . 202,147 points in my first month! I am officially a huge fan of X1 and excited to see how the next several months go with them. I am going to wait and then talk to them about a CLI again around the 90 day mark. If you spend money with the companies they allow for point redemption I highly recommend you get this card!
