I am eligible to consolidate my two opened in November to my two opened in February. Quite exciting! Now I need to figure out what gift cards to redeem my $450 on from my venture...

Or you can PC the card to a Quicksilver and have $450 in cash Smiley Happy

I don't think so. The cash equivalent is $225 if I'm not mistaken. And you lose your rewards if you PC before redemption

I think I recall some threads where people reported changing from a Venture to Quicksilver and the rewards transferred over at the full value.  If I can locate the thread I'll come back and provide the link.

FWIW, if it were me I would probably cash out before a PC anyway... why chance it?

Just as you state, you definitely lose the rewards on the card that's closed when you combine unless you redeem them first.  The only way I would do that is if the number of "miles" was trivial.  (I closed my Amex Green with 1 MR point.)

I just did this. PC'ed from Venture to QS and Ventures miles of 989 converted to $9.89.

Re: Yay. Eligible for Cap1 Consolidation

Wow..very nice baller! I need to burn some miles or find some gift cards. I'm really not sure what to do with these miles? I'm still waiting on my Ventures to become eligible as well as one QS. It should be within the next couple of weeks. I don't want to lose those 47,000 miles. The other Venture has 55,000 miles on it. And I still need to dump the Barclay's with 44,000 miles on it.
I wish Cap one would let me combine Ventures and keep the miles intact. What route would you guys take in order to get the full benefits of the miles other than immediate travel?

Re: Yay. Eligible for Cap1 Consolidation

I was reading through this and noticed the comments about new accounts and consolidation eligibility.... here's my recent experience...

I opened a new QS account on April 28.  When i had previously looked at consolidating my other CapOne accounts, this account did not appear in the list of available eligible accounts.   Yesterday while checking this program out again, my 2 week old ( roughly ) QS card now shows as eligible.   It's not listed as and account that can be closed, but it is listed as one that I can transfer my credit line to.

I'm seriously considering this, as my older account has an APR of 25%, and my new is only 18%.  I thought I was gonna have to wait 6 months in order to do this... but it appears I can do it now.  ;-)

Just my two cents.
