Yet Another Capital One CLI Question

I have the Capital One Reward CC, which currently has a $500 limit (I have another Cap 1 that is 5 years old with a $1,000 CL).  Anyway, the rewards CC is about to turn 6 months old and I would like to see if I could get a bump in the CL.  I truly want to use it for most of my purchases without having to pay it off on a weekly basis.

Anyway, what is the best way of going about this?  I have been reading on the forums and know that they will not combine the accounts (correct me if I am wrong).  Also, I have been reading a lot about the credit steps program that they offer.  I have no idea if I am in it or not, so I am not sure if this even deals with me.  From posts though I think that I will get an automatic CL bump after 6 months if I am in the credit steps program (please let me know if I am wrong).

So, I guess I am trying to ask what to do to get a CL.  Should I call them as soon as my 6 month anniversary hits in 2 days or should I just play a waiting game?

Thank you for your help.

Re: Yet Another Capital One CLI Question

honestly you need to just settle on the fact that you'll never get a customer initiated CLI with cap1 (very rare) best bet is being in the credit steps program which will usually give you 2 CLI's usually to 750 then beyond.

i'd call now and see if you're eligible for the 6th month automatic CLI

Re: Yet Another Capital One CLI Question

They have different credit steps programs, so you'd need to call to find out if you are in it, and if so, when you can expect your CLI. Usually from 500 they go to 750. Sometimes there's a second step to 1000, it depends. Beyond whatever your steps are, I wouldn't expect the CL to go higher than that unless you're blessed by the cap one fairies. Smiley Happy

You can email the CEO and let him know how you would love a CLI to $5k Smiley Wink You will get a letter in the mail thanking you for being a valued customer and will either state congratulations or no go on a CLI. Then log into your online account weekly to see if they increased your limit Smiley Wink If you need the CEO email pm me

Re: Yet Another Capital One CLI Question

To be honest, do not even waste the 10 minutes of your life on the phone with Crap1, all you're going to get is the same canned response that the other 1,237,366 members here have gotten, unless you are the one of the 345,213,098 Crap1 cardholders that actually get a CLI.

With that said, I do Wish you the Best of Luck.

Would you PM me that Email addy? Not so I can ask for a CLI, but rather to tell the CEO what I really think of Crap1

I'd greatly appreciate it.
