I work in a field that deals with this type of sitation *all* day, *every* day. So, I know there is more than 1 way to skin a cat.

- I use this card in exactly 1 place (my local supermarket), and only swipe it personally.

- It never leaves my hand/wallet.

- I live alone, so noone to grab it from my wallet w/o my knowledge, whle sleeping.

- I make sure that my cards do NOT have a RFID chip.

- Even if it did: my wallet has RFID signal blocking built in to it (yes, I'm a bit paranoid about this).

So does mine. I don't feel it's "tin foil hat" at all.

I always set alerts to email me for certain transactions, such as foreign, gas station, over a certain amount, and card not present.

I tried this once but never was able to get it down to an acceptable level of spam; as an example if I could whitelist certain gas stations that'd be much better.

I found the only one lender who didn't detect fraudulent charges so far without my notifying them was Chase; BOFA and Amex have been superb in my experience.   Chase IMO should've caught it too, they know I live in an apartment, why would I (in So Cal) drive 35 miles across Los Angeles to max my card at a Lowes?  Smiley Happy  That said once I notified them, they took care of it in less time than it takes for light to go around the Earth.
