Your First Denial

Do you remember what your first denial was?  I haven't gotten denied for any card yet, though I have been denied a CLI and a PC.

Re: Your First Denial

I was denied for quite a few cards (PNC BofA Walmart) shortly after I turned 18 (I will be 21 next week) but at that point I didn't know anything about credit or how hard it was to get credit without any history! Since I actually started understanding my credit the only thing I have been denied for is a car loan but I am really glad I was because I ended up buying a van straight out instead (yay for no car payment since my income isn't very much right now)

Re: Your First Denial

I'm sort of dreading my first denial.  I'm not going to app for a while, so it's not iminent, but I know I can't go forever without getting denied.

Re: Your First Denial

In the rebuilding phase, getting denied by Penfed right after getting an Amex Platinum and 1 week after I got a USAA cash rewards AMEX. Penfed focused on the one CO that I had that has been paid off for 5 years.

So I nearly lost my cool with them. But i will give them some time since they are a great CU Smiley Happy

Re: Your First Denial

I'm pretty sure it was when I applied for the Bank of America Student card when I was 18. I was stupid and didn't know what I was doing so I actually applied several times after that but kept getting denied...I actually finally got that card a few months ago after a little bit of dedication and crummy Cap1 cards. Smiley Happy

I'm on a quest to avenge all of my denials. I already did it with BoA, AMEX Zync and Citi. I was deneid for all three of them at one point. I still have Discover Student and Chase Freedom to avenge! Smiley Wink

Re: Your First Denial

my first denial was cap1 many years ago.  I was a teen and i heard cap1 was supposed to be leniant so i applied for it and was denied for having limited (no) credit history.

One year later, after building history with another card for a year, i reapplied and was approved for my cap1 card!

Re: Your First Denial

I think the first card I applied for was some store card backed by Chase, denied. Didn't really know any better at the time. I think it was a year and a half later before I actually got my first card.

Re: Your First Denial

A bunch of auto lenders recently.

As far as credit cards go none so far (haven't been aiming very high, go figure), probably Amex sometime late this year: I need to take the shot for the backdating opportunity even if it's one in a million in my case in December.
