Zolve

I saw @gloverkevin post about the Zolve cards a while ago, and my interest was piqued again by this reddit comment about it.

Apparently you get can get 5% back on your choice from a list of merchants. This is how the commenter described it:

I have a Zolve card, made for international students. It gives me UL 5% back on my merchants of choice. I can pick one each from Grocery, online shopping, utilities, insurance etc. There's total 6 categories to pick from.

Apparently they have multiple cards, some have high annual fees, and some are available to people other than international students. I think the only one with the 5% cash back is the Zolve Black which has a $300 AF. At least one is a secured card; I can't tell what the rewards structure is but it seems like maybe rotating partner type stuff.

Do y'all have any experience with it? What problems have you experienced? What merchant partners do they have? (Personally I'm looking for insurance premiums and Aldi).

Here are some snippets of the participating merchants that I've seen at various points in time:

  • here (Adidas+Costco+H&M+Sephora+Walmart)
  • here (Xfinity+Walmart+Lyft+Grubhub+Priceline)
  • here (Amazon+AMC+Costco (online)+Burlington+Cinemark+CVS+Dollar Tree+Fandango+Gap+H&M+Ikea+Macy's+Nike+Regal+Target+Ticketmaster+Walgreen+Walmart)
  • here (Airbnb+Amazon+AT&T+Lyft+McDonald's+Netflix+Starbucks+Target+Uber+Walmart+Zipcar)

Re: Zolve

"The secured Zolve Azpire credit card and unsecured Zolve credit card are credit-builder cards that offer a low-hurdle path to credit for new immigrants, credit beginners and second-chance seekers."

"You can't get the Zolve credit card without first proving you can manage the secured Azpire credit card. You can upgrade to the Zolve credit card in as little as four months, if you can qualify."

"Like some other credit cards in its class , the Azpire credit card requires opening a bank account with Zolve, but it distinguishes itself by not requiring a minimum amount in direct deposits."

Interesting.  Fintech though is a hard pass when venture capital is hard to come by with todays economy.  Wish the best for those whom decide to take this path.

That is a really attractive card. Could really use Sams Club, Dollar Tree, IKEA, Target, and Walmart at 5%.

Re: Zolve

I notice you don't need a ssn. Do you have to use your real name?

Re: Zolve

Zolve is an indian fintech company it started in 2021.
I have an SSN now but in 2021 just needed Indian Passport and PAN (Tax ID) . I was one of their first customers esp giving an unsecured CC the day i stepped into USA.

I dunno how its now though as one more person i know of only got a checking account (with no CC available for them) with no SSN.

But they do offer 5% APY on the checking account now.
