Amex decided to stick a Zync offer in the mail for me recently. I'm wondering if I should shoot for it or not...
I applied back in January and -REALLY- wanted this card so that I could add amex to my wallet. Ideally, a blue cash card would be my main card once I start my career. Back in January, though, they declined me for too many inquiries. I'd just moved and had several inquiries on my report from getting utilities turned on in my name, etc. My utilization was also a little high (40-50%) due to putting some furniture on my amazon line.
I ended up just giving up on getting a Zync. Then, last March, Discover pre-approved me for their More card. I swung and was instantly approved. It's been my main card since getting it, and I love shopdiscover. I've already gotten more value from their rewards in 2 months then I got from my credit union VIsa in the last year.
Really, since I just got Discover, I'm worried that Amex will see this on my report and decline me for the new account. Also, would I even have any use for the Zync? Discover's rewards are so good that I can't see their membership rewards points being any better. I pay in full every month on my physical cards, so it doesn't really matter to me that the Zync can't revolve. Would the Zync offer me anything better then Discover's flagship card? I'd like to get with them sooner rather then latter for the backdating, but it isn't going to make that big of a difference for me...
I don't know my exact scores. Probably between 680 - 720 with the recent inquiries and new account pulling me down a bit. My utilization is reporting 15% or less anymore, paid in full monthly.
Bump...
TLDR: Is it worth getting Zync if you already have a Discover More card? Anyone have both that could chime in?

I have both cards & currently only use my Discover More card when there is something I’d like to buy from shop Discover that will offer me cash back. While traveling & dining I use my Amex card because I have the restaurants package & receive 2x points for dining out. But soon Discover will be offering 5% cash back on gas, groceries, & restaurants so my Amex may take a back seat for a little while. As referenced above, Amex will give you the purchasing power you desire, but IMO Discover offers more (no pun intended) options as far as cash back is concerned.
