after statement closes, how long does it take the credit bureaus to be updated?

i want to apply for a card, but only after my statement cuts. However, I think it would be a safer approach to wait a few more days to allow the bureaus to update but i don't know how long it takes for them to receive this new info. thank!

Over-thinking.  If you want a new card and you are in good credit / financial health, go for it.  Enjoy your new card.  Smiley Happy

Sometimes it takes longer than you'd expect, and I think each one operates on their own timeline. If my statement cuts on the 3rd, I might see the free updates show up a week later, sometimes sooner, sometimes later. But that update is based on the data given on the 3rd. I do not know if the lenders can see things any quicker if they are paying for a report to be pulled.

If updated reports are your priority, just check every day until you see the updated info and then go for it.

Re: after statement closes, how long does it take the credit bureaus to be updated?

Varies GREATLY by issuer.  My Target Circle Card updated in about a day after the statement closed.  My Apple Card's statement closed on 2/28, and it's not scheduled to be updated with the bureaus until the third week of March?!?!?

As another commenter mentioned, it all depends on how much of an impact the balance updates will have on your overall score.  If you have several cards at 50-99% utilization that should be showing 0-30%, then yes, I would wait.  If it's a few cards with balances of 0-10%, then those payoffs aren't most likely going to have a huge impact on whether or not you are approved.

Good luck!  I hope you get your new card!
