I mean, why do you NEED an AMEX? If you need a low APR to carry a balance, try a CU card with no rewards. Even the Barclay Ring has a guaranteed 8% APR if you get approved.
im not able to provide proof of income so cu's are out of the question at this point. barclay ring is on my list thats my dream card. i want 1 card with each major company
I'm seeing more of this and I don't get it. Yes, you need some issuer diversity, but once you have enough of that (and that can be major and minor issuers, and 3-4 is enough IMO), get cards that make sense for you. Here you are trying to choose an Amex just to get an Amex, and finding that there isn't a good match. Until there is, don't bother about Amex!
if they we're stingy with limits i wouldnt be lookin into them. there supposed to have real high limits so its kind of a give and a take paying a little higher interest. every person is different in what they want from cards. my plan is to get 5 cards total. bofa, chase, amex, citi, and barclay

If you don't have proof of income, then you shouldn't apply for a credit card in the first place. Last thing you want from a credit card issuer is to accuse you of perjury, which is a federal felony.
Edit: Double post.

+1 Especially with AMEX, if you want to carry an infinite balance with them, then be prepared for an FR, which is a fancy way of saying they need PROOF OF INCOME.
I don't care why you don't have proof and I don't want to know why. And as you requested I will leave this thread as it is.
BUT DON'T EVER SAY WE DIDN'T WARN YOU.
Everybody wants advice unless it's something they don't want to hear.

+1 to that.
Amex is notorious for hating balances and doing FR's if they feel it's necessary.

The OP could benefit by setting his MSD to this year, even if AMEX doesn't currently meet his needs. If that's the case, he should either stick with a revolver with no AF or a change card that he could close out before the AF hits (although it sounds like he doesn't want that).
