app by back door number

Has anyone ever tried apping by calling the back door number first?  Instead of doing it online and 'possibly' getting a denial and then a recon if necessary.  I imagine if you call and talk to a super nice person and build some rapport, instead of the front line robots with scripts, your chances of approval would increase dramatically.  I didn't find any threads about this so I thought I'd ask.

I have never heard of this being done. If I was a backdoor UW I would tell you to apply thru normal channels first, I would not want to be taking your info by phone. UWs are specialists and dont want to be bothered by such small details as taking ones app.

Re: app by back door number

I guess the logic would be similar to apping in the bank with a banker vs doing it by yourself. I've been 2 for 2 in banks. plus a little karma as your boosting someones comission Smiley Happy

Maybe it's more likely to be approveed because the banker is doing it and not you? And so maybe it helps...

I have done backdoor a couple of times with CCs. I only recommend this technique only if you have a low score and don't think you'll get the card. The bad thing about it is that you may miss out on the rewards and promtional offers given on other sites.

AMEX BCE (30K), DISCOVER IT (29.5K), NFCU CASH REWARDS (25K), BOA TRAVEL REWARDS (15K), USAA VISA (13K), CHASE SAPPHIRE RESERVE (13K), COMMENCE MASTERCARD (7.5K), CHASE FREEDOM (7K), CHASE FREEDOM (7K), TFCU CC (2.5K), TARGET REDCARD (900)
