Gas is by far my biggest spending category outside of dining, typically 300-500 a week spent on gas. That's not set to change until my new electric car gets ordered late next year. I know there are plenty of 3% cash back cards, theres even the 4% from PNC or the 5x points from penfed (not sure how great those are in terms of redemption). But what is the best rewards card for gas? either a 5% cashback or something that's going to be good on points that I can redeem for air travel at good rates (cap1 we're looking at you're terrible miles)
Edit: found the abound visa for 5% CB on gas, anything better for points?
Citi Custom Cash or Sams Club MC - both 5%

custom cash the limit is too low, id blow it in a week usually. the sams club might work but abound fcu has 5% no cap that i just found. hopefully something comes along with points preferably
If you can qualify for Preferred Rewards, the Bank of America Customized Cash rewards can give you as high as 5.25% on gas (for the highest tier).
The PenFed Platinum Rewards points are worth 0.85 cents each so it's 4.25% off of gas and they recently added EV charging at 5X the points as well. I don't think there's a cap. The also give you 3X points for groceries which is 2.55% off. It's not a cash back card though. You can redeem the points in $50 increments for Visa gift cards.

So what I'm hearing is.... it's a cashback card with extra steps?)) there's no airline partners I can transfer to or anything like that?
The Penfed site says the points can be redeemed for travel. I just noticed it says that most Target and Walmart locations code as groceries. So that's also 2.55% for those stores. I'm not sure about online though as it says "locations".

I'll have to look into it a bit more then... also don't do groceries I eat out every day
Yes but you wouldn't have to actually buy groceries to get the 2.55% back. Anything purchased at those locations would get you the same return. If you don't like Walmart or Target or have a higher rewards retail card then it wouldn't be helpful though.

True, I still don't really shop there haha... most of my household stuff I order through instacart and that codes as supermarket on my gold card
