capital one increase

I called capital one and asked for a limit increase on my Capital one platinum card. I was denied. My credit score is 642, I tried my luck and applied for a new card. I was approved. My question is how is it that I can't get a limit increase but I can get a new card.

Another question, if my due date is on the fourth then when dies Capital one report it to the credit agencies. Thanks for your answers and help.

Re: capital one increase

Because capital one is terrible!!!! Have you tried the executive office? I've heard many success stories lately. Which 2nd card were you approved for, if you don't mind my asking? I started with a $750 CO platinum, asked for cli and was denied. Applied for Discover IT 1.5 years after opening my CO account (<10% utilization, appx 4 yr AAoA d/t previous car loan and student loans) and was approved for 4.5k.

Re: capital one increase

Go through the Exec Office.  Google the CEO's email and shoot off an email stating what you are seeking and provide a phone number.

Then just wait like two days and they will call.  Also, its only a SP

The exec office there is night and day different then the frontline CSRs

Re: capital one increase

Capital 1 has different tier cards. A lot of the lower tier cards are designed to only go up to a certain credit limit. So in order to get a higher line of credit you have to app for one of their higher tier cards. Plus they're horrible with CLI on lower tier cards. Although a lot of folks have had great luck with the executive offices lately.

As far as them reporting... If your due date is on the 4th, then that means your statement cuts on the 7th of each month. They will usually report within a few days after statement cut date and they report what the balance shows at the time it cuts.

Re: capital one increase

Sorry for not mentioning it. I got approved for a Capital one cash rewards card with $500 limit. The platinum card also has $500 limit.

Re: capital one increase

Awesome!!

You can still try your hand at the Exec office.  Just last week I got my Cash rewards bumped from 500 to 1500 through them.  My wife also got a CLI via the exec office at same time.

Re: capital one increase

What should the email look like? Do I ask them to please take another look at my inquiry of an increase on my credit card?
