Hi i had my care credit for about 5 years and never got cli..i recently called on phone and did the request for certain amount and they counterd back with nice CLI but noticed they did hard pulls..I think on 2 of the bureaus!
Did they tell you it would be a hard pull? I believe they have to ask.
Sorry to hear that. As a practice I always make sure to ask them before they proceed. Not just CC but any bank that I am not sure of whether it will be a soft or hard pull.
I assume you used the automated system?
Yeah... Unfortunately all CLI requests with Care Credit are HP. I didn't know this either when I requested a CLI. But it was worth it... my CL went from $4k to $11k which helped my utilization.

Based on posts from the experts around here, a CLI request likely qualifies as "permissible purpose" for pulling one's credit. If you're not clear whether or not a hard pull would be involved, call and ask. If the customer service rep isn't sure, then it's up to you to decide whether or not you want to take the gamble.
