has anyone got a bank of america card when they already charged you off?

i maxed out a bank of america credit card 3 years ago and i never paid it.i owed 6000 dollars. after that it got charged off because i never paid them and ever since then ive been rebuilding my credit. yesterday i got a notice from them saying im pre selected for a credit card with 0% apr the first year and no annual fee. have any of you gotten another credit card after a card from the same company was charged off because you didn't pay it. do you think they will give me another card when i call them. my mother said she got her card the same way. she got pre selected with bank of america called them up and got a 10,000 dollar limit.

Remember Pre-selected does NOT mean approved!  Go to their site and do the soft inquiry and see if they offer you anything.

brammy, i know all that already i just wanted to check if it was most likely not possible because i dont want any inquiries on my credit report. if people have done it before than it looks good for me and i will do the soft inquiry. Message Edited by johnpalley on 02-19-2008 02:12 PM

Re: has anyone got a bank of america card when they already charged you off?

I recently got a BofA card and I had an MBNA charge-off from 2000.  I applied early last year and was declined.  I then apped and received a secured BofA card.  Last month the secured card "graduated" to unsecured so now I have an unsecured BofA account.  Of course, YMMV.

As previously mentioned my CO was from 2000 and has since fallen off my reports.  I wouldn't have had the guts to apply 3 years after a CO.  You could be waking a sleeping dragon by apping with BOA so soon, especially if the debt is unpaid and within the SOL...

MBNA was acquired by BofA in 2006 so because I had defaulted with MBNA in 2000, I was deemed to have defaulted with BofA and thus initially denied unsecured credit with them.
