How does apping lessen your ages of cards.

For instance if my oldest card is from 2000?

It doesnt unless you get the card.  I you have 1 CC that is 10 years old and you get a second one, then your average age goes from 10 years to 5.

When you get new credit it drops the average age. So if you have a credit card with 10 yrs of history and you open up a new card its going to drop your average history a little bit.
