large bill

I am looking for suggestions on how to pay about 4k in unexpected bills-

  • use my care credit financing options
  • use my citibank double cash
  • open a new credit card for sign up bonus - I am over 5/24 Smiley Sad
  • other options?

My scores are all above 780 but I won't qualify for CRS until 11/17. Any ideas help, thanks!

Re: large bill

Since you are over 5/24 I would say go for any 0% APR that is not Chase. With scores like that I have to assume your Utilization is relatively low and you have a semi-thick report. If you have to put it on credit, may as well make it 0%

Re: large bill

Have you checked IN your account for an offer for CSR?

There are ways to get a CSR if your willing to do some footwork and have a little luck....

(If thats what you want)

Re: large bill

Depends on if you plan to pay off the $4k right away and if not, how long it will take you to pay it off.

If you can pay it off right away, you can get a minimum of $400-500 in rewards really easily with $4k spend.  I'm thinking Arrival+, Venture, Alliant CU (and many others).  Straight cash back or statement credit, no hassle with points or miles or anything.  Just take the cash and run.

If you need to carry a balance for a while, then a 0% deal might make more sense.  It's simple math really.  If you get a new rewards card with say, 12% APR, your annual interest would be $480 (not amortizing as it's paid), or $40 per month in interest on your $4k debt.  If you can pay it off in, let's say 6 months, then your interest expense at 12% would be $240, so in this case it would make more sense to get the $400-500 in rewards.  If you need to carry the $4k for a year or more, then the 0% would make more sense.

CSR isnt offered online through pre-qual tool yet.. If you have a chase branch near you go into that and ask if you a pre-qualified for any card and hopefully they will say the CSR
