name on amex card

When I got my AMEX card a few weeks ago they asked me what name I wanted on my card. Today I was wondering if they would have let me put whatever name I want on the card or if it has to be your real name.

What were you thinking? A nickname ? The name should be consistent with ID in case you are ever asked

I would imagine it would have be some version of your real name either shortened ala C.F. Frost, with your middle initial or full middle name perhaps.

I have my name as the name everybody knows me as on my amex instead of patrck it says paddy havent had any issues yet...
