pre approval CC question......

Can someone answer this question for me? My Dh and I are disagreeing about pre-approved credit card offers through the mail. He is constantly getting them, while I have received maybe two in the last few years. The discussion is .....how do you get one these lists? Is it randomly sent or do you have to do something to get these in the mail?  Thanks in advance!!

Re: pre approval CC question......

Hi goingnowhere,

There are 2 ways to get on the list for pre-apps:

Call toll-free 1–888–567–8688

The site and phone number allow you to opt in or out whenever
you like. Hope this helps.

Re: pre approval CC question......

Hello again,

If you have ever applied for credit in the past you are automatically opted-in
until you decide that you want to opt-out. DH is getting tons of pre-apps so
he appears to be fine. DW is not, so she may have to opt-in again using the
information provided in the last post.

Sometimes folks just fall between the cracks. And then again, if DH's credit is a
lot better he will receive a lot more offers. It's hard to pinpoint, but if DW wants
to increase the number of pre-apps it's an easy fix with the website/phone number.

You could also visit or call your bank to check your pre-app status. Given the current
financial climate, whenever you go inside or use the drive-thru bank tellers are offering
pre-approvals to its customers. If you have online banking, check to see if there's a link
that says "click here for pre-approved offers" or words to that effect. You only get these
if you're opted into the system.

Hope this helps. Good luck to you!

Re: pre approval CC question......

One point about online banking:

Just login to your account like you normally do.

If you are opted-in, you should see a link that says something like
"click here for pre-approved offers". If you don't see the link, there's
a good chance you're not opted-in. So giving your bank a call, a quick
visit or sending customer service an email will get you on the right track.

CanDo, not all banks have that link. If it exists with Chase, I sure can't find it.

Re: pre approval CC question......

Thanks Sylvia. I stand corrected.

Of course, in the event your bank doesn't provide such a link,
you can always call, visit or email them. Essentially, if you're at
least 18 years old and breathing, banks will be happy to find a
pre-app product for you. And if you're not opted-in, they'll be
happy to help you with that as well.

Thanks again for the correction. Smiley Happy

Well, I certainly wasn't trying to correct you. If anything, I was hoping you could correct me! Smiley Happy

And thanks much for the advice! I hadn't even thought of calling them up. Good info.
