ritz carlton card
what are some reasons people keep this card? Mainly for the free night and priority pass i assume? And the fact that it's just a better card than any marriott bonvoy card?

Re: ritz carlton card
While I sometimes disagree with their point evaluations TPG kind of put together an article why one would want the Ritz Carlton credit card as long as it's still available. The roadblock to getting it a little time consuming especially when tied to Chase's 5/24 rules and Marriot app rules as well but worth it if one is inclined to get one

I don't have the Ritz Carlton but I've considered pc-ing into it. My take on it is:
- This is a Visa Infinite variant of the older AMEX Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card program, basically the same card but with Visa Infinite perks. So far, I believe the AF is still $450 on the Ritz Carlton versus $650 on the Brilliant. Lower AF is definite incentive to keep it now although I don't believe the Ritz Card got the automatic Platinum elite status of the new Brilliant card.
- Travel protections and insurances on the Ritz Carlton (and) the Chase Sapphire Reserve are considered the best-of-class and very equivalent. This card includes premium benefits like $1M AD&D travel insurance, primary CDW for rental cars, delayed/lost baggage, and trip cancellation/delay. In this respect, this card is much better than the AMEX variant.
- Customer Service via JP Morgan and JP Morgan Premier Concierge are top tier, same as for their select JP Morgan Reserve card from what I hear.
- Yes, the free night (recently upgraded to 85K points) is a major reason. This combined with the $300 annual credits pays for the AF.
- Ritz Carlton card has TSA Global Entry credit 1x every 4 years.
- Ritz Carlton card has $100 Marriott property credit.
- The Ritz Carlton card offers Club Level upgrades at Ritz Carlton properties.
- Yes, Priority Pass lounge access is a reason, although probably not major IMO.
- Some like the $300 airline fee credits as opposed to the previous $300 Marriott and now $300 restaurant credits on the AMEX version.
- Like the Chase Sapphire Reserve and AMEX Bonvoy Brilliant, the card has shopping benefits such as Purchase Protection, Return Protection, and Extended Warranty protection.
- The physical attributes of the card may have been a factor. Very clean elegant design. Older metal cards were much heftier than an AMEX Platinum and even the newer metal/plastic sandwich version is about the same as a Chase Sapphire Reserve.
All-in-all, I see several reasons why someone might choose to keep this card, even if they have other Marriott or travel cards.

Pretty much all of those reasons + benefits and some of us are still grandfathered with the original AF when the RC card was launched.

Re: ritz carlton card
Chase Ritz Carlton is still one of the best CCs out there. No matter who values the card, you come out positive.
It was even better when it had the unlimited Visa Infinite $100 airfare discount and easy Marriott Gold (Now Marriott Platinum) status. Those are gutted right now.

Re: ritz carlton card
As mentioned up thread all those benefit card af alone is likely work AF of 450 for 85k stay then travel credit for upgrade, etc. plus all other benefits one of the best AF cc's out their if you stay at marriott and fly and can use that airline credit imho. When they went from 50k to 85k point stays at same AF is when i upgraded although use to have the ritz 4 year back was worth it again and made financial sense to me.

Re: ritz carlton card
The other important thing to remember is that, Ritz Carlton customer service is the same "executive line" shared with JPM Reserve line. Even the CSR does not dial into that line. You get instant customer service. At least it was like that. Not sure if there has been any delay now.
Once my young family member (sub card holder) stopped at Dubai and the Priority Lounge card expired. Called into Ritz exceutive line. Told just charge it to the Ritz card. Chase will just reimburse the charge. The charge was high with the lounge in Dubai.
What would you get from the CSR? I do not remember getting the same kind of service.

Re: ritz carlton card
Can someone give me some advice on hot to product change to this card?
I have had the Marriott Bonvoy Bold card for almost three years. I had a 8k limit when I originally applied. I moved most of that limit to my Amazon card because of better benefits. On 12/05/2022, I moved my limit back to the Bold card, plus whatever I needed to bring my limit to 10k.
After moving my limit to meet the requirements, I was told that the Ritz Carlton credit card was not available. After multiple calls, one manager told me that I would have to wait until 12/20/2022 to get the Ritz Carlton credit card. He said I needed to allow one billing cycle to occur so the system could update and see the 10k limit. It made sense, so I waited.
Today, 12/21/2022, I called in to inquire about the product change, and the manager I spoke with said the Ritz Carlton credit card is not available to me.
Is there anyone who can give me any tips on how to get the card or let me know if I am doing something wrong?
I currently travel for work. I am an Ambassador Elite with Marriott, and have stayed in a hotel room over 200+ nights this year alone. I stay at the Ritz Carlton when I go on personal vacations. It seems like a no brainer for me to get this card. What am I doing wrong?

Hmmm ... this is puzzling @Ragnar7034. I recently posted what I know about the conversion process in >another thread< and it sounds like you've met all the requirements. I could see the $10K being a sticking point but you resolved that. Maybe the system needs a little longer to recognize it? Normally I would suggest you just Hang Up Call Again but you've tried that multiple times. It almost makes me wonder if Chase is getting ready to close access altogether to the Ritz card or maybe they are making changes to it after the other Marriott card changes that just happened.
I suggest we page some of our resident experts on topics like these including @FinStar, @CreditCuriosity, and @K-in-Boston.
