I currently have amex platinum and i do like it but I was thinking about downgrading it for awhile to the PRG since you can earn more points at supermarkets and gas stations and the fee is much less. What do you guys think? It seems like the platinum keeps having perks being pulled away. No more aa or us lounges .. delta lounges now charge for guests.
If fee is your conern then call them. I made a call last month for closing my Platinum and they offered 50K points or 450$ statement credit.
did that last month and only got 15k

Sorry!!!! Did you try multiple times? I had to call in 4 times to get 50K
nope just two times
Certainly worth calling and talk about cancelling (providing you are ready to actually have the card cancelled!). With the recent decline in benefits, it's possible that Amex will find some additional (useful) perks, so some take a wait and see attitude, but I assume that a lot of people now are at least considering cancellation, so they may be more willing to give retention offers.
highly doubtful when i got a retention like 1-2 months ago

The only way you could get me to pay 425 bucks for a card is if the chick from big bang theory sits next to me everytime I use the lounge lol

If this card (or any for that matter) doesn't meet your specific needs, downgrading is an alternative. You have pretty much answered your own question in providing us the details. Personally, I don't have a plat but I do have the PRG and I'm considering PC to Senior Gold or Green before AF kicks in. You are the best advocate for your credit needs and I wish you luck on whatever you decide.
