how come several members in this forum say that their TU report has coded the right way and it is not factored into their util? they report a balance with no ill effect on their util..

The problem is that we still have the older version of the TU FICO score here (TU 98), and it incorrectly treats charge cards like revolvers, using the highest past balance as the CL. The newer version (TU 04) doesn't do this, but it's taking a while for them to get the newer version here to myFICO.
myFICO uses a version of a score formula until more than half of the nations lenders change to a more current one, and then myFICO changes as well, as long as there aren't any snags with the credit bureaus.
So disputing isn't going to help on this. It's a TU FICO quirk.
Oh, well, then, my bad. This was my understanding about TU, and it matches my reports.

Since I am one of the posters with no problem with TU, I will point out that if you check your report with different providers you will definitely come up with some different treatment of the cards. I use credit secure to keep up with things economically. A good source of whether things have reported or gone up or down. Then when I am checking for my scores as well ,I am using fico. My experience has been that TU is handling mine correctly . I count on the fact that my amex charge cards don't affect my utl. Therefore the balances are horrible and if they counted my scores would tank. BTW ; my TU score is always my highest on both providers , but that is probably because it has no INQs.
I can't stress to you guys how much INQs affect scores.
Again , good luck with this. I have heard if you hang up two or three times in a row your call will be diverted "on shore".

Thanks for your feedback. My TU fico score has been the lowest since the amex charge card started reporting. no inqs but still the lowest. It is definitely being factored into my util. To test it - I had for the month of september all my CCs report a zero balance except for amex green reported a $600 balance. I pulled my TU fico and it was showing that I had a 15% utility.

When I got home this evening I checked my last TU CR, and yes, my AMEX Plat is listed correctly as an Open Account (whereas my AMEX Delta Skymiles is listed as a Revolving Account).
Sorry about my earlier confusion. Hope you can get it straightened out, Max09. Good luck!
