Amex does not blacklist au user anymore... That was a short thing they did around 2007 and was over before 2009.

Navy federal is the only one I can think of currently that will blacklist you.

I don't know any banks that won't give au user account... I even got joint on cards that I have bad history on with my own!!!

I was close to app'ing for an amex, actually I was app'ing for an amex. I wanted to add an authorized user that is blacklisted. One of the requirements actually said, "authorized user can not have defaulted with american express" something along those lines.

I'm not 100% because I didn't confirm with a rep or anything. But how do you know for sure amex doesn't blacklist au user anymore?

Re: which CCs ask for ss# for authorized user?

I was deleted from my fathers account back around the 2006ish that I mentioned... Fast forward about a year or so and was adding someone to one of my fathers accounts (I was account manager... Funny when I couldn't even have a card!) anyway added someone and I don't think the rep asked for social or something but it was instant and I was like wait... Add me while your at it and boom she said about 3 seconds after clicking submit the au account had been approved and card sent.... I then started dipping my feet quickly to all accounts and had no issues.
Fast forward again and I'm currently on my partners blue and costco and account manager with no issue.
I did try last week for my own charge and was declined for bk

Re: which CCs ask for ss# for authorized user?

,When adding an ACM there is a disclosure that specifically asks if the proposed ACM has defaulted on an Amex account. I have not 'tested' to see if its an actual blacklist because those I've added never had a defaulted Amex.

You can call AMEX and add AUs without SSN. They will happily add non residents this way.

And if they are residents?

This is what I wonder too. But I guess I'll say the au is a non-resident. I guess it just wont help the au's credit.

I would just go through adding them normally and see what happens...

Re: which CCs ask for ss# for authorized user?

I read a post on flyertalk about this topic. The consensus was in the past you could add the ACM without issue by calling in the request. They may send a follow up letter but they could be ignored. However, a few months ago Amex started to clamp down using security reasons and required ssns. This might be in line with the changes awhile ago on backdating ACMs, idk but it sounds like the door is closing on the no SSN

I'll try and find the post and link it here.

Then the very next post says something else. So... YMMV? Maybe based on the CSR you get? Who really knows what the official policy is now?

FWIW I had no issues adding a non-res.
