I requested a amex cli, less then 3x but still substantial, at least for me. I got a 7-10 message, will they ask for a HP or just straight denial? I think my util is less then $10 dollars on personal cards and maybe 3-4% on my business cards. My TU was 808 last month, but dropped to only 782 when no balances were showing.

In my experience, they soft pull monthly and that is the report that they use. I am surprised with your scores that you got that message. Was your request over 25,000..?
120K?!?! Wow.... ok, you're probably going to get a phone call on that one and/or at least a 4506 request.
When's the last time you updated your signature on here too? That little CU card looks out of place.
The worst case is a no. The best case is a 4506 and either a full approval or a counter offer. They typically only HP if there's a new account approved. You can try to see what they are looking for if you go to https://www262.americanexpress.com/eaol/welcome_loc.do
Depending on what card it is I have heard cards like the blue cash and every day card have a max limit of 100k.

Can't find the thread at the moment, but Pooka mentioned the highest revolver he has seen was $1,000,000 with 6-digit limits not that uncommon. I am paraphrasing, but "AmEx has no issues extending lots of credit as long as they think the customer can reasonably pay it back."
EDIT: Found it: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/Amex-Platinum-500-000-in-spending/td-p/4823898/page/4

Thanks, I called and they said they will be mailing the papers to request the tax returns. He asked if I wanted to cancel but I figured why not. I won't be home for a few more weeks so hopefully I will get them in time.
They should be doing this online. Every once in awhile they'll mail things out. There should be a reference # ending with USD from the original request. If you have that then you should be able to complete it online and have a response within a week. If it's not high priority then waiting until you get home is fine. However the original request only stays open for 30 days and then you'll have to make the request again. There's not a timing issue with this but, it's just starting it all over again. I'm considering going for 100K 3/1 which is when I can next make a request as well. Since I just did the 4506 back in August it shouldn't be an issue and they may/not ask for the same info again to approve or counter. It's just one of those things you can't really predict with AMEX sometimes. Pretty painless though when you hit all the boxes on the form and submit it.
