Discovers Pre Approval Link is now Capital Ones Version

I recently applied and was declined. The reason given was that I had a recent approval from Capital One (T-Mobile Visa).

I also attempted an application using my wife’s profile, and she was declined due to having too many existing Capital One accounts.

I’m a bit surprised by the outcome because my credit profile is stronger now than when I was previously approved for my SavorOne. Scores have improved, and overall utilization is lower.

Has anyone seen Capital One become more sensitive to recent approvals or velocity lately?

For context:

• Recent approval: T-Mobile Visa (Capital One)
• Prior Capital One card: SavorOne
• Wife’s profile: multiple existing Capital One accounts

Update: The original link was removed from the main page for the pre-approval -  Discover Cap One Pre Approval

Update 2: Located the original offer again on Discover -- Found Original Link!

Update 3: I found "respond to mail offer" at the bottom of the original link and it states it found an offer for me! Even thought I was declined and never have gotten a mail offer lol.

Update 4: Applied via the respond to mail offer link, even thought it found an offer for me. Still declined. I believe that link is still utilizing the legacy flow and NOT capital ones.. It will be a hard pull.

Bummer!! Thanks for sharing though! What are you going to do now? There are plenty of good cards from other issuers. You should compare cards on wallethub - I find it helpful. Good luck!

I for one am glad they emailed me and said my Discover cards will switch to Capital One's app on July 27th.

Too many banking apps on my phone.

Has anyone tried to move the credit line from a Discover that's been moved to a Capital One card? If you can, I'll probably combine and close, which is mostly why I have the Discover accounts open at this point.

When my Disco moved to Capital One I tried to move limits between my Savor and my Disco and it would not let me. I have since closed the Savor so I can't check and see if that was just an early migration limit or not though.
