Wells Fargo Customers report missing deposits

Seriously... This bank needs to be bought out/merged into another FI. While things can happen here and there, everything seems to happen here.

Wells Fargo customers took to social media this week to voice their alarm over direct deposits they had made that did not show up in their bank accounts.

A rash of customers contacted Wells Fargo on Thursday through X, formerly Twitter, to inform them of the issue as well as voice their frustration. Some insisted they would switch banks.

"I'm taking my checking, my savings, and my IRA from Wells Fargo Advisors," one customer said in a tweet. "Safer burying in my backyard!" That same day, more than 100 reports were submitted to website status monitor Downdetector, more than half of which involved mobile deposits.

By Friday morning, however, most of the account issues had been resolved, a Wells Fargo representative told CBS MoneyWatch.

"A limited number of customers were unable to see recent deposit transactions on their accounts," the spokesperson said in a statement. "The vast majority have been resolved and the few remaining issues will be resolved soon. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience."

The spokesperson did not specify what caused the problem.

This is exactly how I feel about them as well and why I never* will do business with them if I can help it. Anything can happen to any lender but it seems like it happens with WF a lot more often. What I think should happen is the Feds step in and break WF up like they did Ma Bell back in the day. Break them apart and spread them in the wind so that no one major competitor gets everything. Even better after that blacklist their entire board and all of their execs from ever sitting on another banks board or working for another bank so they can't start their BS somewhere else. Destroy WF so thoroughly that no other bank even thinks about doing the things WF did/does.

* Never is a strong word and I don't think it's generally wise to use it in this way. Most banks/lenders support things I don't agree with yet I still do business with them. I don't like it but it is what it is.

Lol yeah, at this point, I imagine they'd need to do a pretty extensive PR campaign to remain competitive. While I have enjoyed my WF Autograph card and its nice SUB, I would never deposit money or take out a serious loan with these guys. I just wonder, what does Wells Fargo have that would draw customers over other big banks like Chase, BoA, etc.? At this point they are mired in controversies, and represent the epitomy of a corrupt big bank to the average American.

My cards:

New: Amex Gold, Citi Custom Cash, and Citi Double Cash -- will make it pretty sometime.

My credit unions and banks:
