I recently made an error with an electronic payment to a credit card which resulted in a report on my credit of a "30-day past due". (Sent the payment to the wrong company)
I have paid the account in full, admitted it was my error and reminded the company that my payment history was excellent with them, but the company states they can not retract or remove the reported 30-day past due. However, I have read in the forums where other people have had companies that did.
Two questions:
1. Is there anything else I can do to help correct the credit report? My score dropped over 60 points, and I really don't see anything else that would have caused the drop.
2. My husband wants me to close the account because of the report, but is this really wise at this time?
