$50 Annual Fee forces me to close oldest account...

My AAoA is 1.5yrs. My oldest card is 2.3 yrs. The oldest is announcing new terms and ownership and they are going to charge $50 annual fee.

Its a secured card.

If I close it, my score might suffer in light of a thinner file. If I eat the $50, well that sucks.

Help peeps!

As long as you have a zero balance when you close it there won't be any impact. It will stay on your reports for generally 10 years after the closing date which helps your AAoA and credit length history. Go here to read more about Closing Credit Cards.
