$750 CL with Cap 1 and $10,000 loan

I don't understand why Cap 1 won't raise my credit limit.  I had my card since 10/2001.  Cap 1 sent me an invitation for a $10,000 loan back in 2007.  I paid it off within a year.  I didn't use it. Didn't need it.  I put it in my savings account, and made payment each month for a year.

They still won't raise my limit.  They want me to apply for a new card.  I'm confused.  If I complain they may add my late payments from years ago back to my credit reports.  They have done it in the past. And took them back off 2 days later.

Sounds like you have one of their lower-limit cards. I have platinum something with a $7k limit from them, but I do believe they have other cards where really, they cannot go over a certain limit. I would probably keep that card and get a new card from someone else when you're in a position to do so.

I agree with Shnapple. Cards at Cap 1 appear to have caps on them regardless of your credit worthiness. I would take their suggestion, if it works for you, and app for the other card.
