90 Days Late From The Mens Wearhouse

Forum Gurus:

I do not think I explained my situation in a past message, so I need your best guess and guidance.  I have an old paid in full charged-off account from The Mens Wearhouse that is scheduled to drop off in May 2008.  Being the impatient person I am, I tried to dispute it in hopes they would just take it off.  Instead they did something interesting.  They showed me being 90 days late and charging off in March 2007, even though the account has been closed since May 2001, and the date of last activity shows the same!  Below is the actual file on my report.

My question is what should I do?  I have a contact on the "inside" who I emailed tonight with my problem, and I even cut and pasted her my the above Equifax report on her company.  She was not willing to GW my whole account, but I am hoping she will understand this matter.  Is there anything else I should do?  It seems they are in the wrong totally.

Second question, what is a guess on how much my score will rise (if any) if/when the false 90 day late in March 2007 will be removed?  My EQ is 633.

I cannot believe I did not catch this until a couple weeks ago.  I should have not disputed and just let it drop off.

Re: 90 Days Late From The Mens Wearhouse

The status date is simply the date they last updated the status with the CB.  More than likely in response to your dispute. The DOLA is still the same.  If it doesn't drop by May, dispute.

Re: 90 Days Late From The Mens Wearhouse

So when they show my account being 90 days late in March 2007 on a closed, this does not affect my score?

Starting Score: 583 EQ, 612 EX, 569 TU
Current Score: 658 EQ, 648 EX, 618 TU

Re: 90 Days Late From The Mens Wearhouse

Sorry overlooked that... lol!! Cntact the creditr first if possible and let them know that they reported the account 90days PD well after the acount was closed.  If they do nothing contact the bureaus another dispute for incorrect updating.  If nothing else you can request the FTCs help on it.  If the acount was closed and charged off it should definitely not be reporting 90 days after tht date.  They probably just reported your most delinquent reporting and the CBs verify electronically so something got screwed up in the process.
