How accurate is the CS that's provided when you receive your AMEX card? the one that was on there was about 20 points higher than the experian I get through freecreditreport
Welcome to the forums minion27!
the score you get from Amex is an Experian CC Enhanced FICO. it is in fact an actual FICO. The credit score you get from Freecredit report is what is commonly referred to as a FAKO.
My EX siggy I purchased 2weeks before I app'd for Amex. When I got my BCE, the score was the same. I'd say its pretty accurate.

Thank you for your reply! So if I sign up for the credit monitoring through AMEX would that be FICO or FAKO? Or what's the best and most accurate way to monitor your credit score??

CreditSecure provided by Amex uses Exp Plus which is a FAKO. You can only purchase EX Fico on this website.
You could monitor your reports by choosing the free CMS, Credit Sesame, Credit.com etc
moving to Gen Credit

Crazy, huh?!
Get yourself an amex card and get the real score =)

As accurate as it gets. That's the score they used in making their decision. Just keep in mind that another creditor may have used another CRA and a different scoring model so the other creditor could have pulled an entirely different score even if you apped for both at the same time.

I wouldn't worry over accuracy as there's no guarantee that you'll get scores based on scoring models used by creditors that you're applying to (and the specific model that they use can vary. For monitoring, there's a CMS thread that you can refer to with details on various CMS's. It's up to you to determine what's best as that's a highly subjective matter. We can make recommendations if you clarify exactly what you mean by best.
I think your real FICO score, the one that the companies actually see is higher than the one we see. I use credit karma and my real FICO score is typically about 30 points higher than what I get on credit karma which uses Trans Union.

It's coincidence whether a FAKO like CK or the one provided by freecreditscore happen to be higher or lower than one's actual FICO (whatever flavor).
Can't read anything into that: heck, my CK went up more from a bunch of inquiries going beyond the 2 yeark mark than getting an additional public record added: I went up 18 points net. Goofy.
