AMEX w/ a bankruptcy

I'm thinking about applying an AMEX, but after reading through all the treads I'm not sure if I should. BK was discharged in 2003,and most of my baddies are falling off early next year. Should I wait until the baddies fall off, wait unitl the BK is removed (2013), or just forget about it? Please advise. TU=620, EQ=622, EX=unsure.

Two things: Yes, Amex is not BK friendly, second you might want to find out your FICO EX score, Amex usually pulls EX and sometimes EQ. A few with BKs have been approved for Gold Delta Skymiles and Starwoods cards with scores similar to your TU and EQ.

I am not familiar with Amex. I have never applied with them. But I wanted to ask you about your BK. Which BK , chapter did you file? Ch 13 discharged normally comes off 7 years from the date of you filing. Other chapters normally come off ten years from the date of filing.

Re: AMEX w/ a bankruptcy

Save yourself the inquiries and aggravation. Not gonna happen with those scores. Sorry. Citi and Chase would be major borderline and that's pushing it. These CCC's want to see high 600 low 700 scores with a lot of age on a BK. Your BK is not that old and the scores are too low. You might have a shot at the Juniper Carnival Sea Miles Card perhaps. They pulled TU on me. Good luck. Keep at it.
