AU Terminated - should be removed?

Hi Everybody,

My girlfriend, who has significantly worse credit than I, decided to add me as an AU to one of her CCs "to be nice" in exchange for me adding her as an AU to one of mine. Well, she has this card at about 90$ utilization and it's only 1 yr old, so I got dinged twice for it. After she realized that it was hurting my credit, she took me off as an authorized user (in Jan 2008), but it's still on my report at all 3 CRAs (as of about a week ago) and one still shows a balance of near 90% utilization!

Depending on where I get my CR (myFICO, TC, privacyguard.com) and the CRA this sometimes shows as open, sometimes as closed, usually with "Account Holder: terminated" (does that mean my girlfriend or I are dead? [grin]) or "Account Holder: Acccount Relationship Terminated" (sic). The balance could either be the current balance, the last balance reported while I was an AU, "N/A", "Not Reported" or $0 (again, depending on CRA and the source/format of the report).

My questions are:

1. Will this fall off my credit report soon on it's own?
2. If not, can I get it removed by disputing it as "not my account"?
3. Does it affect my credit as long as it's on there, even if the relationship/responsibility is "terminated"?

Thanks!
Bob

Re: AU Terminated - should be removed?

I'd dispute it as "not mine"
