Accidentally deleted tradeline

I had a personal loan. The credit monitoring service I use said I paid off x amount of the loan, and it appeared the company had not reported in 6 months. I disputed with Transunion to make the loan company update perfect payment history and that it was paid off, but it may have been removed instead by Transunion. Is this going to hurt my score? I'm so annoyed! I paid $8K! How can I have this updated and not removed entirely?

Re: Accidentally deleted tradeline

Perhaps contact the creditor and ask them to resubmit the TL (including the missing payments).

i dont really trust CMS for closed accounts.

I would do a 3B pull from annual credit report for free (no scores, but free to pull weekly through 4/2021) and see if the account is truly missing from just TU or all 3Bs. If it is still reporting or not to the other bureaus, I would reach out the creditor and ask for it to be placed back on. Annual credit report is the most comprehensive credit reports around.

Sometimes updates take awhile and while I know it is hard to be patient, I would always reach out to the creditor first and save disputing for a truly last ditch effort. Disputing causes such heartache and CMS platforms make it seem like the answer to everything and how easy it is. Some CMS platforms arent the best to truly see where accounts are at. Sometimes they are accurate with 1 or 2 bureaus but take forever updating others. I see this with all the CMS platform I use, even if all 3Bs are reporting. Many of my TLs don't update 1 bureau, but does for others, depending on the CMS platform. I only completely trust annual credit report.

Good luck!

Re: Accidentally deleted tradeline

Today my score shows an 8 point increase through Transunion. It was only being reported to Transunion. I'm going to call the company now, but surely having a paid personal loan is something I should want to keep, right?

Re: Accidentally deleted tradeline

When you dispute an account, it will usually get pulled off your report, short term while they check it out

it will likely appear again in a week or so

Re: Accidentally deleted tradeline

No really, it says the dispute has been completed and we removed from your file. I got an updated from the CMS "did you close this account?"
