Ok quick question.
I noticed that on my equifax CR my previous address is reporting as my current address, and vice verse. So I did an online dispute only to find out since I'm in Texas that CSC handles the information for that CR that is forwarded to EQ. So I received the Research Request Form from CSC with my confirmation number and I'm ready to send it in with my correct current address location on it.
But here's my question, as I don't want to make things worse, but Now looking at my EQ report, it looks like they removed my actual current address form my report after I had a very shakey conversation with EQ on the phone today. So do I need to send in this Research Request Form or will my address correct itself when my CC's report this month? I'm not sure how it wound up backwards like it was, TU and EX both showed my correct current address. Any advice on this would be helpful.
To send or not to send....
I would send the form and whatever documentation is required. But you also want to figure out which of your reporting creditors is providing the incorrect (old) address. If you access your EQ report directly through the bureau there should be a code alongside the address which will tie in to the accounts listed in your credit report. This will enable you to find the creditor with the incorrect information.
Alternatively you could go to each creditors website and update your address in the personal information section (even if it appears to be showing correctly). Just be aware that this will sometimes trigger an off-cycle update by some creditors and in the case of credit cards may cause your balance on that day to be reported. Not a large concern unless you are trying to manipulate utilization for a coming credit application.
Also you can probably disregard any creditors whose accounts you have opened since the move to the current address. If you did not give it to them they are not going to go to your credit report and pick up old demographic information. Good luck but if this is the only error on your credit report at least it's a minor one.
