I was wondering if anyone has had the same issue with Experian that I have. I have a freeze on all my credit, but it doesn't seem Experian is complying. When applying for new credit, I am able to unfreeze both Transunion and Equifax online, however, Experian gives me an error message. When I attempt to call the phone number, I get am unable to speak to a real person. With my ss# entered, it asks me if I want to put a freeze on my account. (I have the letter with the pin from them). When I replied yes, the message said a freeze would be placed and I would receive a letter with my pin.
It seems as though when I was using Experian to monitor my credit ($24.95 per month) there was no problem, but since I cancelled that service, there now is. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
These credit freezes are a real joke. I took mine off EX when I realized that somehow I put the wrong date in for a lift and it wasn't going to freeze again until December and now it says they can't verify my info when I try to add the freeze back online, I can only lock using their stupid app, so I just threw in the towel on freezing anything. I monitor my credit like a hawk so if someone tried to do some shady fraud business I would catch it fast, it's just too much hassle to have to mail documents that can be used to steal my identity to prove my identity so I can freeze my credit. Best of luck dealing with them, I'm not a fan of EX or EQ.
Experian phones have been acting weird lately. Just call a different department and have them transfer you. I struggled to reach a real person in their dispute department for an entire morning. The menu system simply would not work correctly. Then I tried later in the day and did the same thing and it worked fine. Don't follow menu options for freeze placement or lift and just go to a dif department and tell them what you want and they can help you.
If you're not paying monthly for Experian, you won't have access to their credit lock.

A freeze and lock are two different things. A freeze is free by law.
