Am I wrong??....

Attempted to purchase a car last year from carmax. Looking at my cred report and shows several pulls.

4/10/06 - COAF, CAP ONE AF, CITI AUTO, WELLSFARGO, BK OF AMER, CARMAXFIN
4/12/06 - COAF, ROADLOANS, CAP ONE AF

I was under the impression that you could have several pulls in a certain time when looking to purchase a home or a car and those additional pulls would not affect credit scores.

Re: Am I wrong??....

You are wrong unless those are soft pulls then they won't affect your credit but if they are hard pulls they will affect your credit. They may not ding your score that much cuz it shows you are shopping for the best deal but it will affect your score.

Re: Am I wrong??....

As far as I know they don't pay attention to the name just the number of inquiries.

Multiple inqs for a single car loan within a short period of time are all put on your CR, but in terms of score should count as one inq only, as it is for rate shopping

But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: Am I wrong??....

Re: Am I wrong??....

Ok let me ask this. What is the number of days that you will be safe when different creditors will check your credit.

I have one here for the same creditor pulling on 02/05/07 & 02/15/07 through Experian.

Re: Am I wrong??....

If they are coded for auto loan- 14 day window.

This is on each report.
