Hi Everyone,
Recently joined the community and have enjoyed the great information from all of you.
I used to have an American Express that they closed back in 2009 during the credit crunch. It had a balance of $200 on it when they closed it. Fast forward, I also have a Corporate Amex card and this old account shows up under the online profile whenever I go into the portal to pay the Corporate bill as a separate account.
The old personal Amex does not show on ANY of the credit bureau reports and I really want to pay this debt, however, I am afraid that if I do pay it off, it will trigger an adverse reporting to the credit bureaus. Has anyone heard or seen this scenario. In the process of rebuilding and finally have thing on the way up, so I can't take a hit on score, but really want to settle this debt.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome!
My mother was actually in the scenario a few years back. She was a long time Amex customer back from 98 and her gold card was closed around 2010 sadly as she was going through a hard time. Amex never reported for her either, she went ahead and called customer service and paid the remaining balance (This January 2014 actually) and they are still not reporting. She just wanted to clear the debt, she plans on getting back in with them one day, I've already made her an AU on mine so we will see!
Best of luck!

Call this number. They will take the payment for sure.I know when I spoke to a CSR regarding my mother, if she did pay the amount owed, they would allow her to be eligible to apply again.
Mothers.. huh?? ![]()

It's true.
She burned them (or her crappy husband did) for about 800 so in my opinion it's worth her paying it back, so she will.

Not resolving it won't guarantee that it won't show up. Make getting it settled a priority.
Thank you all for the information. I will make the call.
