Do they pull your credit for the Amex High Yield Savings account (not the card associated but JUST the savings account)? I notice they ask for your SSN so I assume they do, but if anyone knows for certain that would be great.
Thanks
Hi- I just opened one of these accounts a few months ago. They do a soft pull, just to verify your identity.

Thanks. How do you like it so far?
This is the Amex online savings account NOT a credit card...
Other then them dropping the APR to 1.30% it's been just fine. It took a few days for my electronic deposit to show in the account but it was backdated so I didn't lose any interest. I haven't withdrawn any funds yet so I have no idea how long that may take, but I'll assume a few days. Best part is that interest compounds every month, now they just need to raise the rates! I've only needed customer service once and they were fantasitic!!!
Yeah I have been looking around at Savings accounts and I think I am going to go with Amex or ING Direct. I like the sub-account feature of ING. I also like Amex, and since my go to CC is with them, I thought I might try their Savings product as well.. Despite all the negative press around, I have never had a problem with them in 14 years.
Too bad Penfed does not have better savings rates.
