I agree with Timothy, your scores alone should get you a Delta Skymiles or Starwoods. Not sure on a Blue though. An option would be to apply for a Delta and upon activation ask to convert it to Blue. Others at this forum have done this and been approved  with scores lower than yours. Whatever you do, don't bring up your negative history with them it will do nothing to help you. GL, lets us know what happens.

Amex pulls mostly EX, EQ sometimes and TU rarely.

Re: Amex question - about prior problem with Amex

Well, I decided to try and here's my answer: Information received from Experian Consumer Reporting Agency (See below) The factors provided by the consumer reporting agency that affected our decision are: Collection item in the last two years Unsatisfied account 90+ days past due with a balance of $200+ greater than 1 year Apparently I need to relook at my report. I think it's the SallieMae that is showing past 90 prior to being sold to NELNET which I've been current for over a yr. Those old lates really hurt me. I'm not sure about the collection item they are talking about. But I'll figure it out and let time takes it's toll. Chin up, right? Thanks you guys for your help...

So you applied and were denied?

Yep. Applied and denied. Now that I think of it, I think I applied for the Blue, not Delta Skymiles. Maybe I picked the tougher card. Anyways, I'm going to hang loose, keep doing good things and let time and my effforts improve things. It's all good.

Check with Amex and find out what card you were denied. You should qualify for the skymiles, Blue maybe if you convert.

Re: Amex question - APPLIED for the wrong card , doh!

I went back in my history and found that I did indeed apply for the wrong card - Blue. Dang it. Delta Skymiles is what I meant to apply for. Next time, I'll know better. In the meantime, I think I'm going to wait for some repsonses to GW and see if anything will fall off of the report and try again with an even higher score.

Re: Amex question - APPLIED for the wrong card , doh!

Well long story short, I called them and told Amex that I meant to apply for the Delta Skymiles card. He said it would still be an inquiry if I wanted to apply. Then he said that the Green card was the card for people re-establishing credit. So I decided to try online and got denied. I'm so bummed. Apparently, I have these paid old accounts that I just can't get rid of and until I do, they're showing serious delinq , even though they are paid. I'm just bummed. I get so excited reading these posts, and feel like I can apply for the Delta (which I still have yet to do tonight - afraid to) - I need to just wait for time and GW letters/disputes to take their course and in time I will prevail. In the meantime I'm bummed because I'm a good person and have paid all of my mistakes. I just can't seem to make them go away and get a decent cc.

Re: Amex

Just want to put a lid on this story since it's my own. For anyone reading, Amex was very good to me after taking care of an old debt. Not only did they put it back on my report, giving me 18 years of history!, there was nothing bad about it. It was a zero account, closed, with 18 years. Love them.

Since last Aug I have received the Blue Cash card (converted from Delta), the Amex Clear Card and the Costco True Earnings card.

I love Amex and feel very grateful that I was able to rekindle our relationship.

None of this was possible without this forum. Thank you so very much.
