I just got my first alert on Truecredit and it was one saying that Walmart had made an entry on my Equifax report. I had written Walmart a GW letter a couple months ago asking if they would consider dropping my one baddie from Oct 2001. Yeah, I know, it would have come off next year anyway, but it just goes to show that GW letters can and do work, depending on your individual circumstances. In my case, I owed nothing to Walmart when I filed for BK, so that account stayed intact. I guess I did have a 30 day late payment "after" my BK (Oct 2001), but they weren't abale or willing to help me over the phone when I called about it back then. It's been a couple months since I wrote my letter to them, and I had to address it to Walmart (Credit Dept) at their corporate headquarters since I didn't have a better address. I only had that one baddie, and have been very good with my Walmart account since, so I really thought I deserved the GW. My success rate with GW letters is 100% (2 for 2), and my one major dispute (baddies reported after my BK) was corrected by dropping the baddies. It's all because of this site. I would never have known where to start, and I got a really good start on my GW letters from an example I found in these forums. Thanks again MyFICO folks, especially Tuscani and Noah.
