Yeah, reason I asked about the 2X Cl vs. income is that after getting a NFCU with an extremely good limit and then two additional Amex Cards with a total extra 22.5K . I am getting close to being 1x my income.  I never plan on getting a mortgage  and I don't plan on going wild on my cards.   I'm just thinking that one of them are going to CLD me.........

I think that, with CL/CLI, the trick is not to get greedy.  There comes a point of diminishing returns; it becomes more difficult and the so-called benefits are outweighed by the liabilities.  My own situation, on a salary of ~$65K and household income of ~$100K, my personal CL total is over $130K.  I'm perfectly happy with that CL figure and I won't be pursuing any CLI at all.  If a card issuer wants to give me an autoCLI, I'm fine with that, but I'm sure not going to ask for any CLDs!

Re: Any harm in requesting a CLD?

I'm with you on that Thom, with my current pickup of 3 cards.  They pushed my CL to about 42.5K  and my gross salary of 45K to about 47K.  The NFCU cash rewards was a little too high.  I'm not going to tell them to decrease it.  I'll just let things lay,  and just sit in the garden til my old age.....  Also like you, if anyone wants to do an automatic CLI  that's fine too...

CLD's can definitely bring unwanted attention. It's not like there will be a notation that the CLD was requested by you. I even remember reading here recently about someone who just reallocated a CL from one account to another with a given creditor, and encountered an issue with Amex i Believe because it appeared that one of his lines had a CLD.
