I have dealt with a peach farmer before that sold peaches, but once they started to rot, he would give those away rather than throw them out. These peaches had to have a lot of the bad places cut off but half of each peach would still be OK! If I had to pay for them, I'd complain, but since they were free I would always smile and thank the farmer for his kindness. Same thing applies here...Thank You Creditkarma!!!!
I kind of understand where you're coming from OP. Back when I apped for my mortgage I used CK to find out what my score was, and I honestly had no idea at the time how irrelevent the score I was getting would be to my lender. Luckily for me I knew I had good credit and it didn't end up being a problem, but if my credit had been less then great... well yeah, it sucks to feel you've been mislead.
That being said, I love CK! Sure the scores are mostly worthless (I'm guilty of calling them "fake" in the past, which I know they are not, you just see FAKO everywhere and the word ends up assocaited) and their recomended cards can't be trusted - but for monitoring whats on your report at no cost, it's the best site out there IMO. I have creditsesame, and quizzle, and I think there's one other site - CK is set-up the best, updates the most, and gives me all the info I need to make sure PRA isn't doing anything sneaky and that my accounts are all reporting accuratley. Even Cap1 and Discover's score monitoring don't offer as much info as CK.
So long story short, it sucks to buy into the intentionally sold idea that CK has it all and for free - but once you get over that and take it for what it is, it's a wonderful way to keep an eye on your accounts. If you're like me and just gardening, that's all you really need.
You guys are acting spoiled lol.
CK scores are def way off, however, don't use their services for that. I use it for credit monitoring, trajectoring, and they have this feature where you're able to sync your bank accounts + CC to track your spending. which, IMO, is hands down the best method I've seen. and it's free. I love it.
