Are Collections With Zero Balance Due Harmful?

I've been reading through the forum and can't seem to get an answer for this so I'll post.  I recently pulled my 3B reports. I have 5 medical collections from 2015-2016 and they all appeared in the Collections category.  However, they were all paid off late 2016 and display a zero balance.  Here are my questions:

1. Do zero balance collections harm my score?

2. Can I ask to have them removed by the agency?  Is that allowed?

3. How do I do that?  Will a call work or does it have to be in writing?

Appreciate it!

Sam

They do in fact harm your score.

While disputing accurate information is not recommended, you can request goodwill removal of the negative information. Searching for goodwill or GW here will point you to more info.
