Asked this before but need confirmation do the 3 CRA's share info?

Just got off the phone with Cust Serv. of my Amer. First CU,  he said and was quite insistent that the agencies share info..
America first reports directly to EX. he said, and I re-asked him to be sure; that EX will in turn report infor to TU and EQF. and they can report to each other...

I was told they do NOT share info.

SO which is it? do they or don't they?

If they do, then I KNEW they were all in cahoots with each other.

thanks!

The only time CRA's share anything is when you place a FA (fraud alert) on your report(s).

You are correct.  CSRs frequently know zip.

The CRAs are 3 separate, for-profit companies.  They compete with each other for business from lenders. Each touts its own product as the most risk-predictive.  Why would they share info?

Here is a question from a FAQ from the creditor point of view. It is a FAQ for the software which actually packages & submits the data to the CRA.

http://www.metro2creditreportingsoftware.com/reportingtoonecra.html

If I report trade lines to one CRA, do my trade lines show on the other CRA's?
No. The credit reporting agencies (CRA) are separate entities and maintain their own databases, therefore your trade lines will only be displayed on the bureaus which you submit data and have a reporting agreement with.

As masdeocho said the CRA are seperate and do not share TL data. The reason why most accounts are on all three is really simple. Most creditors report to all 3. Some small creditors use 3rd party reporting. The creditors report to a third party who bundles reports with other clients and sends them to all three CRA.

It is entirely possible to have one CRA reporting Bankruptcy, one CRA report nothing, and one CRA report "Paying As Agreed. Open". This is from personal experience.
