Authorized User

Been an authorized user of my father's account for 10 years. He has perfect credit and it helped me rebuild my score. The account in question has a 7,000 limit and never late since 1973. He recently requested a 500 a month spending limit on my acct, does that hurt my fico score now??

Re: Authorized User

...afaik an AU is reported using the original account # and CL, not some separate limit your father put on your spending ...none of the CCs I hold allow me to set a separate spending limit on my AUs but such may exist.

Your AMEX will allow you to set spending limits for AU Smiley Tongue

OP your report should be unaffected.

Re: Authorized User

Indeed.  AFAIK, spending limits are an internal feature provided by the CCC and have no bearing on external information reported to the CRAs.  I've set AU spending limits on cards before and have never seen any of that information reported.
